چکیده

In the framework of a European Union project a method is needed that allows rapid, standardized, and comparable assessment of the recent state of biodiversity in several countries at the same time. Landscape ecological research in the last decades showed that diversity of species can be correlated to the diversity of their habitats, and that remote sensing images provide good basis for this assessment. Traditional image processing methods ordered pixels of the image into classes according to the habitat they represent. In order to calculate diversity of the habitats within a landscape however, it seems of advantage if habitats are defined as objects. Classification of these objects seems then appropriate for landscape ecological analysis. This paper presents an object-oriented assessment approach that was optimized for biodiversity studies and can be applied across several countries in different biogeographical regions.

Object Level Strategy for Spectral Quality Assessment of High Resolution Pan-sharpen Images

Panchromatic and multi-spectral images produced by the remote sensing satellites are fused together to provide a multi-spectral image with a high spatial resolution at the same time. The spectral quality of the fused images is very important because the quality of a large number of remote sensing products depends on it. Due to the importance of the spectral quality of the fused images, its eval...

Exploring Gördes Zeolite Sites by Feature Oriented Principle Component Analysis of LANDSAT Images

Recent studies showed that remote sensing (RS) is an effective, efficient and reliable technique used in almost all the areas of earth sciences. Remote sensing as being a technique started with aerial photographs and then developed employing the multi-spectral satellite images. Nowadays, it benefits from hyper-spectral, RADAR and LIDAR data as well. This potential has widen its applicability in...

Use of Remote Sensing for the Assessment of Farmland Biodiversity

Executive Summary In many countries farmland represent the most relevant type of land use. The conservation and the enhancement of biodiversity within these areas is primary objective for the achievement of sustainable management of agro‐ecosystems and the level of biodiversity can be used as agri‐ environmental indicator. The measure of biodiversity over larger territories however, can be very...

Automated Spatiotemporal Landslide Mapping over Large Areas Using RapidEye Time Series Data

In the past, different approaches for automated landslide identification based on multispectral satellite remote sensing were developed to focus on the analysis of the spatial distribution of landslide occurrences related to distinct triggering events. However, many regions, including southern Kyrgyzstan, experience ongoing process activity requiring continual multi-temporal analysis. For this ...
